BALLISTIX / LOAD DEVELOPMENT RECORDS
A load development and ladder log that keeps every step together
A useful ladder log connects each saved charge with its target, chronograph readings, and range notes. Ballistix links your bracketed load recipe to a ballistic record so you can compare recorded results without juggling separate photos and spreadsheets.
Save the steps in your load development plan
Start with your load recipe and its components. Enable bracketing, enter your planned starting charge and increment, and define the ladder by a number of charges or an ending charge. The load shows the resulting charge ladder before you take it to the range.
Create a ballistic record linked to that load. Its saved variations keep the charge steps with that range record. The log records your plan and observations; it does not recommend charges or decide which load is safe.
Keep target photos and group measurements with each charge
Add notes and group sizes to the steps you shot. Attach a target photo to the relevant step, calibrate its scale, and mark the shot centers to measure a group. Review group size, MOA, and mean radius with the record's gear setup and session context.
A record can contain multiple chronograph sessions for a charge. Existing sessions remain available when you add another import, so later results do not replace your earlier strings.
Import Garmin Xero chronograph data into the right ladder step
With premium access, open Import Garmin on the saved ballistic record and choose CSV files or a batch XLS/XLSX workbook. The preview shows the sessions before anything is saved.
- Read the session title, Session Note, shot count, and velocity summary.
- Choose the saved Ladder step for every CSV session or workbook sheet you keep. Use the charge in your Session Note and your range notes to identify it. The app does not assign steps automatically.
- Remove sessions that belong to another record or a charge missing from this ladder. Import only the steps you actually shot.
- Check the destinations, save, and review the sessions beside the ladder results.
For a single load without ladder variations, imported sessions go directly to its ballistic record. There is no ladder-step selection on a normal record.
Read the ladder ballistic record guide for saved steps and multiple sessions. The Garmin CSV import guide covers normal and ladder records, and the Send All Sessions XLS walkthrough explains workbook previews, text numbers, and removing unwanted sheets.
Bring the rest of your handloading log along
Keep component purchases, recipe costs, brass history, printable load labels, and gear records connected to the work behind your range session. Manual records and target measurements remain available without premium access; new Garmin imports require premium.
